EVENING PERFORMANCES
“Cocinando Una Cancion” A Recipe on How to Cook a Song by Sandra “Sasi” Marcelino. This interactive dance performance will highlight the intersection of Afro-Cuban dance with Latinx culture.
‘La Corona’ Messages from our Hair by Yvette Modestin of Encuentro Diaspora Afro. Black women, Latina women, Black Latina women's hair is more than a style. The performance will take attendees through the history of hair and the impact both visually and mentally on women of color.
“Tres: A Musical Journey of Afro-Resilience” by Kaovanny ‘La Caoba’. Kaovanny communicates beauty, power, strength and independence in her ten minute set. She highlights the gift of being an Afro-Latina and the power of healing through music.
